Using MedDialog with Brightsquid Secure-Mail to Communicate with Patients

Brightsquid has partnered with Telus Health to allow subscribers to increase connectivity with patients and professional colleagues.  Subscribers can now attach files from their EMR and send them directly to patients.

Secure-Mail is a web-based messaging tool that allows patients and professional users to securely and compliantly access and transmit sensitive, private information.

 

In just 2 steps user can select specific data from a patient chart and send it to the patient.

  1. Select the data from the patient file in your Telus EMR and via MedDialog
  2. Log into your Brightsquid Secure-Mail account at https://health.brightsquid.com and forward the files to your patient

 

Patients will immediately be notified via email that they have a new message waiting for them in their Brightsquid Secure-Mail account.  Patients will then log into their accounts to receive and download the files and information you shared with them. If the patient does not already have a Brightsquid Secure-Mail account they will be asked to create one when receiving their first Secure-Mail message.

 

Requirements

Medical professionals wanting to make use of this streamlined external communications channel will require the following prerequisites:

 

  • Membership in MedDialog - MedDialog is now being offered to TELUS Health PS Suite®, Med Access, and Wolf customers. The solution will evolve to connect all 20,000 physicians using TELUS EMRs and will be integrated with other software vendors to enable communications with physicians using other EMR platforms.   • Subscription to Brightsquid Secure-Mail - Thousands of physicians, specialists, allied health professionals, and patients are improving quality of life and overall care by sharing Protected Healthcare Information securely and efficiently with Brightsquid Secure-Mail.

 

Process

Note that individual EMR systems vary slightly, but the overall process is the same.

 

  • Med Access
      1. Click the MedDialog SEND button near the top of the patient record page. Note that this button will only appear if your EMR has been configured with MedDialog.  
      2. Address the message to yourself within the MedDialog list of Providers.  This will send the message to your Brightsquid account.
      3. Log into your Brightsquid Secure-Mail account at https://health.brightsquid.com
      4. Locate the MedDialog message in your inbox and forward that message to your patient.

 

  • PS Suite
      1. From within a patient file use the keyboard command <CTRL-M> to open the messaging window.
      2. Address the message to yourself within the MedDialog list of Providers.  This will send the message to your Brightsquid account.
      3. Log into your Brightsquid Secure-Mail account at https://health.brightsquid.com
      4. Locate the MedDialog message in your inbox and forward that message to your patient.
